LMS stations and trains

Ex-LMS 2-8-0 8F No 48012, ex-LMS 2-6-2T 3MT No 40078 and ex-LMS 8F No 48456 are all on shed and apparently not in steam. The steel open wagon on the right is full of briquettes, essentially coal dust pressed to form cobble sized coal. This was standard fare for local and goods working the more expensive better quality coal being reserved, when ever possible, for passenger workings. C1950s

The history of Number 48012 and 40078 has been described previously. Number 48456 was built by the GWR at Swindon in October 1945 and lasted to August 1967 when it was withdrawn from Buxton shed being scrapped at J Buttigieg, of Newport, in February 1968.
