LNWR 2-2-2 No 630 stands just north of the old
Leamington/Warwick (Milverton) station with the sidings in the back ground (the
bridge being later removed). Barely visible is a board on the top of the buffer
beam bearing the name 'Leamington'. In this view the McConnell locomotive is
seen in full Ramsbottom condition probably in the late 1860s.
OS Nock had this photograph in his book LNWR locomotives
and his caption read that the locomotive was standing in front of the 'Blue
Bridge' at Wolverton. Ted Talbot drew this photograph to my attention and the
board on the buffer beam. From examining maps of Milverton we able to identify
its true location. Number 630 was built in 1854 at Wolverton Works and was
previously numbered 320 and 30 later being named Ribble in 1872.
