This close up of image 'lnwrsc92' shows the brick structure
above the canopy which is the main station building, housing the booking office
and other facilities, accessed via a short driveway from Railway Road. From the
main station building the enclosed footbridge allowed passengers to cross to
the up platform for Birmingham trains.
The short platform canopy on the down platform is in
contrast to the up platform's long canopy reflecting that more passengers
departed in the Birmingham direction, hence the boarded along the platform,
than in the opposite direction. The goods sidings were located to the left of
the photographer.
