Looking towards Icknield Port Road with the wooden footbridge and elevated walkway. Originally the station was constructed as a single track station but was converted to an island platform in 1901 when Harborne received its second, but never used, platform. The rising gradient eased to 1 in 224 through the station which provided a short respite to the continuous 1 in 66 rise either side of the station.
