LMS 5P/4F 2-6-0 'Crab' No 13173 waits it turn to be turned
on Rugby's turntable by the GC bridge on 13th August 1930. One of a class of
245 locomotives No 13173 was quickly renumbered as No 2873 as part of the LMS'
new system of locomotive numbering to accommodate the introduction of large
numbers of LMS standard type locomotives. Number 13173 was built at Crewe works
in May 1930 and remained in service until withdrawn in September 1963 from
Gorton shed to be scrapped in September 1964 by TW Ward Ltd of Broughton Lane,
Sheffield.
