LMS 4P 4-4-0 Compound No 1153 returns from the turntable ready for its next trip on 23rd June 1928. The dark smoke pouring from chimney indicates that the fireman has built up a large fire which has yet to full burn through and be incandescent. Number 1153 was built by the North British Locomotive Co to order 23247 on September 1925 and lasted in service until October 1957 when it was withdrawn from Bournville shed to be scrapped at derby works in November 1957.
