Ex-LNWR 'Cauliflower' class 0-6-0 No 8555 and ex-LNWR Coal Tank 0-6-2T No 27638 stand in temporary store adjacent to the Repair Workshop on 31st March 1935. Number 8555 was built at Crewe works in November 1900, renumbered by the LMS in June 1942 and remained in service until withdrawn in January 1954 from Widnes shed to be scrapped by Crewe works. Number 27638 was built as LNWR No 2483 at Crewe works in March 1883 and remained in service until withdrawn in July 1936 for scrapping at Crewe works.
