LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot No 6134 'Atlas' is seen in its original condition complete with Fowler tender and no smoke deflectors

LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot No 6134 'Atlas' is seen in its original condition complete with Fowler tender and no smoke deflectors in 1929. The locomotive is hauling a train out of Rugby's down platform with thirteen coaches behind the tender. Whilst the Royal Scot class locomotives initially carried names associated with early locomotives in the 1930s many of the class were renamed on a military theme resulting in No 6134 being named 'The Cheshire Regiment'. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in October 1927 No 6134 was rebuilt with the standard 2A tapered boiler in December 1954 and in this form No 6134 remained in service until November 1962 when it was withdrawn from Upperby shed.
