Ex-LNWR 'Coal Tank' 0-6-2T No 27562 shunts in the vicinity
of the goods yard. The introduction of the new standard classes such as
Fowler's Royal Scot class compelled LMS management to allocate blocks of
numbers to one class of locomotive. Existing pre-grouping locomotives carrying
a number from any of these blocks were moved to the duplicate stock series of
numbering by the simple process of adding 20,000 to their number as is
illustrated above. C1935
