Looking towards London along the down platform as a train leaves the south section of the platform. The scissors crossover enabling trains to arrive or leave from either end of the platform is well illustrated in this view. Today the distance between London and Rugby would not appear to great yet in the 19th century it could pose problems as the tender capacity of locomotives became critical as the loading of trains became ever greater. The Loco wagon on the has been strategically placed to top up the tenders of locomotive to save time in taking the locomotive to the shed.
