LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales class No 354 is seen leaving Rugby on an up Birkenhead to Euston express circa 1919-22. Most of this class of locomotives were placed in the duplicate list by renumbering them by adding 20,000 to their original LMS number. As such they were numbered in 1934–1935 from 25600 to 25844 with their original numbers being allocated to Stanier's new Jubilee class of locomotives. The arrival of Stanier 4-6-0s also displaced them from their work so in 1933 the LMS commenced their withdrawal leaving only twenty-two remaining in 1939. Withdrawals were suspended during World War II because of the severe shortage of locomotive power, but recommenced in 1944 with just six to pass into British Railways ownership in 1948. In March 1948 only four of the class remained, No 25648 'Queen of the Belgians', No 25673 'Lusitania', and unnamed locomotives No 25752 and No 25787. They were allocated the numbers 58000 to 58003 but all were withdrawn before their number could be applied.
