Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45561 'Saskatchewan' and British Railways built 2MT 2-6-0 No 46446 are seen in Rugby's sidings on 15th September 1962. As both locomotives are fully coaled its most probable that they have just ran through Rugby using the bidirectional engine line between the shed and the sidings. By the early 1960s many of the Jubilee locomotives were being used for non-passenger workings as their previous roles were increasingly being taken over by the new diesel locomotives being introduced under the 1955 Modernisation Plan. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in July 1934 No 45561 remained in service until September 1964 when it was withdrawn from 16C Derby shed. Its smaller partner, the British Railway built to a LMS design Mogul No 46446, was built at Crewe works in March 1949 and remained in service until December 1966 when it was withdrawn from 6D Shrewsbury shed.
