An unidentified ex-LNWR 4-6-0 Claughton class locomotive is seen at the head of a down express as it passes under the GC bridge. Michael Byng writes, 'The Claughton is probably LMS No 5914, 'J Bruce Ismay' and the picture was probably taken early in 1933, as witness the almost complete absence of Stanier Period III coaches apart the solitary TK (Third Class Corridor Coach) on the extreme left of the picture. The coach is probably in LMS full livery, the lining at the waist is lower than the simple livery style. The engine was withdrawn in December 1934'.
