LMS 4-6-2 Stanier Pacific No 6247 'City of Liverpool' in post-war LMS lined black but with LMS crimson tender on an express. Seen here as a 'Semi', a term used by enthusiasts to describe any member of the Coronation class after losing their streamlining, the sloping smokebox and gap in the running plate in front of the cylinders gave evidence of their former streamlining. Number 6247 was built at Crewe works in September 1943 and was withdrawn in May 1963 from Kingmoor shed, Carlisle for scrapping in July 1963 by Crewe Works. C1947
