LMS 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 5552 'Silver Jubilee' at the head of an up express approaching the station. The class was named as part of the Jubilee celebrations of King George V and the locomotive was given silver painted steampipes, raised numerals on the cabsides and raised LMS lettering on the tender sides. This livery was a later decision by the LMS board and rather send the locomotive back to be dressed in the new livery Number 5552 swapped identity with No 5642 'Boscawen' which had been painted as seen above. Consequently the works cards show No 5552 as being built at Crewe works to Lot 203 in December 1934 and remaining in service until withdrawn in September 1964 from Crewe North shed for scrapping by TW Ward Ltd of Beighton, Sheffield in April 1965.
