LMS 4-6-2 Stanier Pacific No 6223 'Princess Alice' is seen at the head of a down express. Number 6223 was a Coronation class design built at Crewe works in June 1937 and remained in service until October 1963 when it was withdrawn from Polmadie shed in Glasgow to be scrapped the same month by Crewe works.
