Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Rebuilt Patriot class No 45521 'Rhyl' approaches Newbold Troughs on 11.00am Euston to Workington and Carlisle express on 26th June 1960. Number 45521 was built at Derby works in March 1933 and classified as a rebuild of LNWR Claughton class locomotive. Receiving its name in late 1937 it was rebuilt in October 1946 to a very similar specification as the Converted Royal Scots with the main visual difference being the new Stanier cab whereas the Scots retained the Fowler cabs. It was withdrawn in November 1963 from Springs Branch shed near Wigan and scrapped immediately at Crewe works.
