Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Rebuilt Royal Scot No 46149 'The Middlesex Regiment ' approaches Rugby on a down express, just before passing under the GC bridge. The single track curving away to the left was the down line from Market Harborough, whilst the low level viaduct carried the line to Northampton. The bridge at the start of the viaduct carried the Northampton line over the up line to Euston, joining the down line approximately half way along the train. Bernard Dodd writes "the bridge dominating the sky line in the background is the since removed Townsend Road bridge".
