Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-0 Precedent class 5000 'Princess Beatrice' buffers up to another of the class with ex-LNWR 0-6-0 Coal Engine No 8104 and another unidentified Coal Engine behind its tender adjacent to the coal stacks with the LNWR coaling stage in the distance circa1932. Hawkins & Reeves in their book 'LMS Engine Sheds Volume One - The LNWR' state that it was the practice at Rugby for a large number of locomotives to be put in store during the winter ready to be used during busier periods. Its assumed that the engines seen above (and in image 'lnwrrm995') are therefore in store being at the end of their working lives. Number 5000 was built as LNWR No 2190 at Crewe works in April 1875 and was renumbered by the LMS in July 1928 remaining in service until June 1932 when it was withdrawn from Rugby shed for scrapping at Crewe works.
