View of Rugby's enlarged manually operated coaling stage with large water tank fitted above. The coaling stage was opened in 1876 at the same time as the shed and was equipped with the usual LNWR large water tank providing cover to the men who coaled the locomotives. Rugby's coaling stage reflected the number of locomotives being serviced at Rugby consisting of two chutes on this side of the building. Photographer HR Norman
