Close up of image 'lnwrpbj83b' showing Perry Barr North Junction signal cabin which was erected in the 'V' between the line from Handsworth Junction and the former Grand Junction line to Aston. Both of the signals in view are upper quadrant meaning that when they are in the 'off' position, allowing the driver to continue past the signal, the arm is approximately 45° above the horizontal. The signal on the left - which controls trains from Handsworth Wood to Great Barr - has a repeater arm located lower down than normal with both arms fixed to a lattice post. The signal on the right and in front near the signal box is made from tubular steel and controls traffic from Perry Barr to Great Barr and beyond. The fencing along both routes shows the changes which occurred over time. The fence on the left - bordering the Grand Junction Railway's route, is made up of timber whilst the route from Handsworth Wood is a cast metal railing.
