Ex-LNWR 0-8-0 7F class G2a No 49115 is seen being turned on Nuneaton shed's 60' Ransome Rapier turntable

Ex-LNWR 0-8-0 7F class G2a No 49115 is seen being turned on Nuneaton shed's 60' Ransome Rapier turntable. The driver and be seen operating the turning mechanism which was operated by the connecting the locomotive's vacuum system to the turntable. The locomotive is lined up with the set of rails that ran under the Trent Valley thereby allowing engines to cross over to the up yard via the Nuneaton Leicester line. This facility allowed locomotives to go on shed for coaling and watering without disrupting traffic on the main line. Built at Crewe works in April 1910 No 49115 remained in service until November 1959 when it was withdrawn from Stafford shed to be scrapped during February 1960 by Crewe works. 6th June 1952
