Although to an LMS Ivatt design this 2-6-0 No 43024 was actually outshopped at the dawn of British Railways being built in January 1948 at Horwich works.

Number 43024 carried the ugly (and totally inefficient) chimney which was later redesigned following extensive testing at Swindon and Derby. It was withdrawn in June 1967 and scrapped by J Cashmore at Great Bridge in October of the same year. C1950s
