Other than what appears to be an ex-LNWR 0-6-2T no other
locomotive is evident at the shed indicating it must be a weekday. The
photographer is looking in the general direction of Wolverhampton with the main
line from New Street to Wolverhampton on the right out of view. The shed, known
to enginemen as the "new shed" was built in 1884 to a non-standard LNWR design
with two pitched roofs instead of the normal northlight pettern
arrangement.
