LMS Route: Rugby to Leamington Spa (Avenue)
Marton Station: lnwrmart1328
Looking towards the Rugby with the warehouse on the right.
The raised area to the left of the warehouse was the landing area. In 'LMS
Stations' a 1880-95 diagram shows the landing area with a track on eitherside
and one in the middle which butted up against the landing to disembark road
vehicles, etc.
The structure to the left of the wagon was used for storing
lime which could be very corrosive on brick structures hence the timber
construction. On the line the wagon is standing, a few feet towards the
warehouse, was a wagon turntable which according to the authors was a relic of
the original 1851 layout. To the left of the camera, out of sight and opposite
the station building, was a cattle pen.
