Leamington (Avenue) Station - Locomotives: lnwrlave1373

Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T '5 foot 6 inch Radial Tank' No 6683 is seen standing at platform one at the head of a push-pull motor train for Daventry and Weeden during the summer of 1947. The general run down condition of the locomotive is evident through the burnt smokebox door and white staining on the boiler's cladding. Despite looking in a worse condition and being older than No 46749 this locomotive survived longer in service. Built at Crewe in July 1893 No 6683 remained in service until February 1953 when it was withdrawn from Warwick Milverton shed to be scrapped at Crewe the following month.
