BR built LMS designed Ivatt 2-6-2T 3MT No 41218, was one of
a number of this class allocated new to local sheds. In this view No 41218 is
facing forward to the direction of travel as it stands at the head of a Weedon
train circa 1949.
Number 41218 was built in September 1948 at Crewe works and,
as with all members of this very competent class, had a very short life being
withdrawn in July 1965 from Northampton shed. It was later scrapped by J
Cashmore of Great Bridge in September 1965 a mere 17 years after being
built.
