LMS Route: Leamington to Weedon

BR built LMS designed Ivatt 2-6-2T 3MT No 41228 was motor fitted and the driver is standing on the track at the far end of the two-coach train ready to board the driver trailer to take the train to Weeden. The fireman would remain in the cab to fire the locomotive and consequently had to 'know' the route well enough to ensure the boiler fulfilled demand without wasting steam by blowing off.

Number 41228 was built at Crewe works in October 1948 and later worked on southern region metals before being withdrawn from Nine Elms in June 1964 and scrapped at G Cohen of Kettering in November 1964.
