Ex-LMS 2P 0-4-4T No 41909 is viewed from the former GWR station as it approaches Leamington Avenue station on a down local service from Rugby on 28th September 1956. This locomotive is attributed to Stanier but its looks clearly demonstrates its Derby heritage. The 'promotion' of Fowler from LMS CME to another post resulted in a one year gap before Stanier took up office leaving Lemons to be responsible for the design of this locomotive which appeared in traffic after Stanier took up tenure.

Built at Derby in January 1933. as LMS No 1909 and fitted to operate push-pull trains, No 41909 remained in the area for just over three years after the photograph was taken being withdrawn from traffic in December 1959 from Rugby shed and scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge shortly afterwards.
