The Motor Industry was important to the railway in the early years as a considerable amount of traffic was generated. The GWR wagon above is carrying glass to one of Coventry's car factories.

In this close up of image 'lnwrlave1354' we can see LMS 4-4-0 Compound No 1116 is carrying a reporting number on the smoke door whilst the driver is talking to a member of the station staff. C1936

Number 1116 was built by the LMS at Horwich in July 1925 and lasted in service for 32 years before being withdrawn as BR 41118 from Trafford Park shed in November 1957 being cut up at Derby works the following month.
