Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 3084, a MR 1357 class locomotive, is seen standing at platform two on a local Leamington to Coventry passenger service. The use of goods engines on passenger services was a common practice particularly in the summer months when traffic levels could peak with holiday traffic. It was also standard practice by UK railway companies to cascade older locomotives onto secondary duties thereby extending their working life. Built by Beyer Peacock in December 1882 No 3084 remained in service for 77 years being initially stored at Trafford Park from February 1959 until its official withdrawal as BR No 58213 in August 1959 to be scrapped shortly afterwards.
