LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington
Kenilworth Junction: lnwrkj198
BR Standard Riddles 9F 2-10-0 No 92151 is seen at the head
of a mineral train coming off the single line with the crew ready to exchange
the token with the box. The locomotive has a tender full of coal indicating
that it probably started its journey from one of North Warwickshire's coal pits
and its more than likely as the load appears to be made up of fine coal its
en-route to Didcot power station.
Its remarkable that even though photography had become much
more common than previous, crews were still ready to pose to the camera. Number
92151 was built at Crewe in October 1957 and failed to see 10 years of service
being withdrawn in April 1967 from Birkenhead shed. It remained in store for a
further twelve months before being scrapped by Draper Ltd of Hull in April
1968.
