London Midland Scottish Railway Route: Nuneaton to
Leamington
Kenilworth Station: lnwrk152
Ex-LNWR 2-4-2T No 6653 lies in the centre of a four-coach
push-pull train heading to Leamington. Whilst not a rare configuration, the
usual configuration for this branch (as most photographs seem to suggest) was
motor-fitted trains with two-coaches with the locomotive located at one
end.
This four-coach configuration would be adopted when traffic
demand was high it although it necessitated employing two driver trailer
coaches which appears extravagant in view of the relatively few numbers built
by the LMS. The normal approach was the use of conventional four or six-coach
trains hauled by a locomotive. C1938
