Kenilworth Station: lnwrk1470a

Close up of image 'lnwrk1470' showing Kenilworth station's new up platform complete with ornate Gothic architecture and column mounted glazed platform canopy. The complete absence of posters, platform furniture and staining between the rails all point to the station being newly opened after rebuilding. The platforms were six-hundred feet long by twenty feet wide and paved with Val-de-Travers asphalt with rubbed Yorkstone edging to the platform. Each platform canopy was two-hundred feet long constructed of light wrought-iron roofing supported by cast-iron ornamental columns and brackets. Note too the ballast covering the railway sleepers, a feature of late 19th century track work.
