This close up of image "lnwrhiaj707" shows a LNWR locomotive standing in the Midland portion of the station on a southbound service whilst a MR Kirtley 0-6-0 stands in Hampton or Derby Junction station facing towards Whitacre. The LNWR locomotive is probably an 0-6-0 DX class locomotive and has it's smokebox door hung downwards from a point three-quarters of the way up the smoke box barrel unlike the late practice where the whole door opened from the side. The MR green-liveried outside-framed MR Kirtley 0-6-0 would have looked resplendent as this predated the period when Midland locomotives became more associated with the Crimson Lake livery.
