LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

An unidentified ex-LMS 2-8-0 8F locomotive runs tender,
first wrong line, with an electrification train on 23rd April 1966. On the left
is the former B&DJR station with Midland Railway chairs still lying around.
Electrification of the West Coast route to Crewe, and other associated lines
such as the Rugby to Birmingham to Stafford line, commenced from the late 1950s
being completed by the mid-1960s under the British Railways 1955 Modernisation
Plan. It was finally extended to Glasgow in 1974.
