The station building seen in LMS livery circa 1951. The portion of the building on the right was the booking office added when the road bridge was built to replace the level crossing. The station masters house was an adjunct to the left of the building and was demolished to make way for the bridge.

The erection of the bridge was necessary due to the long delays to road traffic at the level crossing exacerbated by trains requiring access to the goods yard (immediately to the left of the road bridge).
