LMS Route: Nuneaton to Coventry
Daimler Halt: lnwrdh118
A view of the station looking towards Nuneaton. The bridge
at the far end of the station is Sandy Lane road bridge. The Daimler, later
Jaguar works were to the left of the bridge and further down the line. The
covered passenger accommodation was very basic and by the 1950s in a poor state
of repair. Passengers leaving and entering the station had to present their
tickets to the porter who resided in one of the little huts seen in the
distance.
The puzzle to the author was how did passengers access the
up (left) platform. The reason the station was built was for the benefit of
Daimler workers who would need to access the station at the far end of the
station. The far platform end is clearly used being without grass etc. Yet
there is no access visible on the left nor is there a barrow crossing evident.
