A view of the interior of Curzon Street Goods Station's goods forwarding office taken in 1913. According to Richard Foster in the second book in his series on Birmingham New Street - Expansion and Improvement 1860 to 1923 the office was housed in the former hotel's dining and coffee room which was located on the ground floor of the 1840 extension. Richard Foster also notes the lighting being integrated with the shelving at the rear of the desks, the doorways, behind the pillars, leading into the original Hardwick structure and the door on the right to the goods agent's offices. As Richard states, "the picture gives some appreciation of the army of clerks (all male) and mountains of paper required to run the goods business".
