An internal view of Curzon Street warehouse's departure platform with various goods being exported. This photograph shows the interior of the station with crates and boxes on the platform ready to be loaded in to the vans standing on the adjacent siding. The Tilbury sign seen hanging over this bay might be serving two purposes, one of identifying an area of the site to help staff know where to collect or deliver goods, the other being to signify the destination of the goods. Goods needed to be loaded carefully and in the correct order when stacked inside the van. This was not only to reflect where the van was being sent to and the destination of each item but also to ensure the lighter or more fragile items were on top. Each wagon would have its full load stacked on the deck outside and then, as it was deposited within the wagon, it would be checked off against the invoice.
