LMS Route: Nuneaton to Coventry
Coundon Road: lnwrcr41a
This close up of image 'lnwrcr41' shows the signal box,
level crossing and station master's house which were opposite the end of
sidings 1, 2, and 3. According an undated diagram of the wharf in Preston
Hendry and Powell Hendry's book 'LMS Stations' siding 1, which has the
lorry parked at its end by the buffers, was fitted with a weighbridge to
facilitate coal merchants being able to quantify the loads arriving at the
wharf.
Adjacent to siding 4, behind the nearest lamppost, a Bedford
lorry is being loaded with the aid of a mobile conveyor belt. In the foreground
is the lever controlling the points to sidings 2 and 3.
