Whilst unfortunately flawed, this photograph helps to confirm the lack of cleaning on goods engines not only in Coventry but elsewhere too. The booming post-war economy meant that people were just not prepared to work in such conditions nor for the low pay, and this was particularly the case in "Car Town" Coventry.
