Coventry Station: lnwr636

The rebuilding of the station required the contractors to phase in new facilities when the old ones were demolished. Essentially the original platform 1 remained in use for the majority of the time because it was retained as part of the new station. The old platform 2 was removed altogether with the new platform 4 being constructed behind it as seen in image "lnwr627".

The removal of the old platform 2 only took place after its replacement, the new platform 4, was complete. The central platforms, 2 and 3, were constructed after this phase and in the photograph above are yet to be started.
