In this close up of image "lnwr627" the edge of the new platform 4 can be seen whilst the rear of the old platform 2 is exposed. As is evident, the moving of materials and spoil required a considerable amount of double and even treble handling most of which was undertaken by hand. The lattice steelwork evident on the left are used to provide support to the formwork used to cast the concrete floors, part of which appears to be erected.
