The steps to the footbridge to the down platform for Birmingham and Nuneaton trains have Triumph Cycles on the risers. The timetable display boards were a new BR feature (Note the bicycle trousers/plus fours below the last board).

To the right of the staircase can be seen a telephone booth and in front of that a large "Dyno" type machine which printed out a given number letters on a strip of aluminium for one old penny. Many a new apprentice in the town was sent here to print out name tags for fixing on their tool boxes etc. on their first day on the job. 10th April 1953
