Another view of the up platform and what remained of its 1860 structure. Taken in 1954 this view shows the "stonework" next to the base of the old tower that supported the original 1860 luggage/parcels bridge of which only the steel lattice work remains. In fact the evolution of the station on the up side meant that the 1860 structure was modified rather than completely replaced. The 1860 luggage/parcels bridge remained until 1901 when it was demolished to allow the expansion of the parcel depot. The 1901 two-storey buildings seen from Eaton Road being built on to the front of the 1880 extension. The chimneys seen behind the latticework over the top of the up platform awning are evident in the photograph of the 1880 station.
