Close up showing Coventry's original 1838 station building, the 1901 rebuilt passenger station, the parcels depot and L&B shed

This close up of image 'lnwrcov554' showing Coventry's original 1838 station building, the 1901 rebuilt passenger station, and the parcels depot. The original London & Birmingham station building on Warwick Road is to the left of the road bridge whilst immediately above the L & B building is the parcels depot building (the facing brick structure with four windows) with the timber framed covered parcels shed to its right. The original L&B engine shed and pump house is bottom right seen with a plume of steam showing that it is working raising water from the well beneath. To its right, partly hidden by a tree, is the entrance to the "incline machine" a ramp used to handle large numbers of passengers arriving on the down platform either during the holiday period. The main station buildings were located on Platform One, the up platform, and the glazed canopy entrance is seen opposite Eaton Road where the tram is standing. The three bridges are, commencing from the bottom, the passenger footbridge, the luggage lift and bridge, and Stoney Road bridge.
