LMS 5XP Patriot class No 5519 'Lady Godiva' running tender first
and coupled to an unknown classmate has just passed under Quinton Road bridge
as they progress towards Rugby station. Interestingly both have full tenders so
they might have both been on a short running in trip from Rugby which might
also account for their being coupled tender to tender. C1933 Rebuilt from a
LNWR Claughton at Crewe works in February 1933 No 5519 remained in service
until March 1962 when it was withdrawn from Barrow shed in Bristol to be
scrapped immediately by Crewe works. The two nameplates were donated to
Coventry City Council and were last noted to be displayed by the author in the
early 1980s, one lying on top of the other, at Coventry's Museum of Road
Transport.
