This rare colour photo shows ex-LNWR 3P Precursor class 4-4-0 No 25319 'Bucephalus' on a local passenger train. Reg Kimber wrote "I am fairly certain the train was a Nuneaton to Leamington service as they used to average 7 coaches on the Nuneaton and Leamington trains in the 1940s and I'm sure it was the same in earlier years." Number 25319 was built at Crewe works in April 1906 and given the LNWR running number 990 followed by its LMS number 5319 in July 1927. The locomotive was placed on the duplicate list to make way for the Patriots and Jubilees and lasted in service until December 1940 before being scrapped at Crewe Works the same month.
