Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 rebuilt Patriot class No 45531 'Sir Frederick Harrison' is seen at the head of a diverted Trent Valley down express as it passes the original L&B gate keeper's house on 19th July 1953. The signal immediately behind the box was supported via a hawser from the post on the extreme left in front of the gate keeper's house. Originally rebuilt from a LNWR Claughton class locomotive at Crewe in April 1933 it was rebuilt again in December 1947 with the new rebuilt Royal Scot's tapered boiler. Number 45531 remained in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in March 1966 by GH Campbell of Airdrie.
